Our Story

Rooted in Christ. Moving in the Spirit.

Riverstone Church was birthed out of prayer, calling, and the undeniable leading of the Holy Spirit. This is the story of how and why we began.

How We Began

We were compelled by God.

Riverstone Church was birthed out of prayer, calling, and the undeniable leading of the Holy Spirit. We did not set out to plant a church for the sake of doing something new. We were compelled by God to respond to a divine assignment.

We launched September 7, 2025 in Mansfield, Texas, with a burden for a church centered on the gospel, passionate about worship and prayer, rooted in biblical teaching, and intentional about building authentic community.

We remember what God has done, we stand firm on who He is, and we step forward in faith for what He is yet to do.

The Name

Why Riverstone?

Our name holds our identity: two images that, together, describe the church God has called us to be.

River

The River symbolizes the life-giving flow of God's grace, love, and presence, the rivers of living water Jesus speaks of in John 7:38.

Stone

The Stone represents strength, stability, and the solid foundation of faith on which we stand, like the wise man who built his house on the rock in Matthew 7:24.

Together, Riverstone is a church both dynamic and enduring: rooted in Christ, moved by the Spirit.

Meet Pastor Desi and Mychal Henk

For the past two decades, Pastor Desi has dedicated his life to ministry. After a prodigal season, God used the kindness of a neighbor to lead him to Christ at age 18, and he has never looked back.

Desi and Mychal are two-time Dallas Baptist University graduates who have served together across youth, young adult, and senior ministry roles. Mychal, a mom and educator, serves as Desi's ministry co-leader. After an extended season of prayer and fasting, God called them to plant Riverstone Church.
